Bali Treetop Adventure Park

Bali Treetop Adventure Park is an aerial ropes course set among the giant trees of the Bali Botanic Garden (Kebun Raya Bali) in Bedugul, the cool highland area near Lake Beratan. Run under French management and built to European safety standard EN 15567-1, it gives visitors a fun, active way to experience the garden’s forest canopy – with temperatures refreshingly lower than on the coast.

The park stands out for its range. There are seven circuits with 72 challenges in total, stretching from 2 to 20 metres above the ground, so small children, nervous first-timers and confident adventurers can all find a suitable level. The design also protects the trees: platforms are fixed with compression systems and protective half-logs rather than nails or bolts.

What to expect

After a safety briefing and harness fitting, you complete a short practice course under an instructor’s eye. You then progress through circuits of suspended bridges, spider nets, Tarzan jumps, flying swings and wobbly walkways. The highlight for many is the 12 flying-fox ziplines, with the longest running around 160 metres through the canopy. A continuous lifeline keeps you clipped in, and patrol guides watch from the ground. Plan on around two and a half hours.

Safety & requirements

Children as young as four can take part on the lowest kids’ circuits; higher circuits have age and height minimums set by staff. All equipment is provided. Closed-toe shoes are essential, and long hair should be tied back. The course may pause in heavy rain or lightning. Participants should be in reasonable health and comfortable with heights.

Tips

Bring a light jacket – Bedugul is noticeably cooler and often misty, especially in the afternoon. Arrive in the morning for drier conditions. Wear sports clothes and gloves if you have them. Combine the visit with Ulun Danu Beratan Temple on the lake, the Candikuning market or a stroll through the botanic garden’s orchid and cactus collections.

Families with a mix of ages can split up by level – younger children stay on the lower kids’ circuits while older kids and adults tackle the higher courses. Allow extra time for the drive, as the road up to Bedugul winds through the mountains and traffic can be slow on weekends. Warm drinks and snacks are available at warungs around the Botanic Garden and Candikuning market, a welcome treat after an active morning in the trees. Remember that the Botanic Garden itself is worth a few hours, with orchid collections, a cactus house and wide lawns that make it a pleasant picnic spot.
