The Mulia, Mulia Resort & Villas

Set on the soft white sand of Geger Beach in southern Nusa Dua, The Mulia is a large, polished beachfront complex that operates as three stays in one. The Mulia is the all-suite section with butler service, Mulia Resort offers classic rooms and suites, and Mulia Villas brings private pool villas on the hillside. All three share a long stretch of beach, a series of pools and some of the best-known hotel restaurants on the island.

The scale is grand, with marble lobbies, long colonnades and manicured gardens running down to the lagoon-coloured water. Mulia Resort covers the more traditional room categories, while Mulia Villas offers multi-bedroom villas with private pools for extra privacy.

Beach cabanas, water sports nearby in Tanjung Benoa and the Bali Collection shopping area a short drive away round things out.

If you prefer a small, intimate hotel or want to be close to nightlife, Seminyak or Canggu may suit better.

Practical tip: Nusa Dua’s gated enclave is clean, well organised and quieter than the west coast, which makes it easy with children, but it can feel removed from Bali’s village life. Book a driver for a day in Ubud or a sunset at Uluwatu Temple, both reachable in under an hour from here outside peak traffic. Tables at Soleil for Sunday brunch and at Table8 on weekends fill up quickly, so reserve before you arrive.
