Explore Nusa Dua: Things to Do in Nusa Dua Where to Stay in Nusa Dua
About Nusa Dua
Nusa Dua is a planned resort enclave on the south-east of the Bukit Peninsula, in Benoa, South Kuta. It was developed from the 1970s by the state tourism corporation, and its first hotel opened in 1983.
Around 350 hectares hold more than 20 resorts, landscaped gardens and calm, reef-protected beaches, which makes it a favourite for families and conferences.
The name means two islands, after the pair of islets in the bay: Peninsula Island to the south and the smaller Nusa Dharma Island to the north, which holds a Hindu temple. At the Water Blow, Indian Ocean waves crash against jagged limestone edges. Nusa Dua lies 22 kilometres from Denpasar, and its core is a gated area with security checkpoints. Directly north is the Tanjung Benoa peninsula, the place for water sports such as parasailing, banana boats, snorkelling and scuba diving, while Geger Beach sits in Sawangan about 3 kilometres to the south. It has also hosted world leaders: the APEC summit met at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in October 2013, and the G20 summit was held at The Apurva Kempinski in November 2022.
