About Badung
Badung Regency stretches from the central hills down to the Bukit Peninsula and holds most of Bali's resort areas: Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Canggu, Jimbaran, Nusa Dua and Uluwatu, as well as Ngurah Rai International Airport. Its capital is Mangupura.
Inland, the Mengwi district is home to Taman Ayun, the moated royal temple of the old Mengwi kingdom.
Badung is made up of six districts, from south to north South Kuta, Kuta, North Kuta, Mengwi, Abiansemal and Petang, which together hold 62 villages. The southern coast is among the busiest tourist areas in Bali, home to Uluwatu Temple and the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) statue park, while the northern part of the regency is relatively unpopulated. In Abiansemal, Sangeh Nature Tourism Park is known for its monkey forest, and upland Petang offers the Pelaga agro-tourism area and a bungy jump. Badung works for almost every kind of traveller, from beach and nightlife lovers in the south to those looking for green, quieter countryside in the hills of the north.
