Potato Head Beach Club

Potato Head Beach Club is the social heart of Desa Potato Head, the creative village on Jalan Petitenget that also takes in hotel rooms, restaurants, a craft store and a busy cultural calendar. The beach club is the part most visitors know: a broad lawn and an infinity pool that seem to spill straight into the Indian Ocean, facing west for the sunset that Seminyak is famous for.

The building itself is a talking point. Indonesian architect Andra Matin designed the club’s curved façade from thousands of old timber window shutters collected from around the archipelago, so the whole structure reads like a giant patchwork. The wider Desa has since earned B Corporation certification and a place in The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2025, and sustainability runs through the operation, from upcycled citrus in the cocktails to recycled materials in the fit-out.

The vibe

Days start slowly with swimmers, families and laptop-free loungers, then the energy rises through the afternoon as resident DJs move through Balearic, disco and house. There is deliberately no dress code, pets are welcome and children have their own Sweet Potato Kids area, so the crowd is broader than at most Bali party clubs — honeymooners, groups of friends and parents with toddlers all share the lawn.

Food & drinks

Kaum, the Indonesian restaurant inside the club, cooks regional recipes with ingredients sourced from local producers across the islands. Around the pool the bar list leans on local spirits and fruit, with plenty of wine, craft beer and zero-proof options for non-drinkers. Snacks and sharing plates are easy to order to your daybed.

Music & events

Beyond the beach club

A visit here doesn’t have to end at the pool. Desa Potato Head is a whole campus: two hotel buildings — OMA House, designed with the architecture firm OMA, and AM House, created with Andra Matin and local craftspeople — plus the good times.general store selling crafts and design pieces. Throughout the year the Desa runs a Cultural Exchange Series, natural-dye workshops such as Chroma, art installations and wellbeing programmes covering movement, mindfulness and recovery, and it has partnered with international music brands like Dekmantel on special events.

Tips for your visit

• Walk-ins are free with no minimum spend outside golden hour; between 16:00 and 18:30 a IDR 200k cover applies, credited back against drinks.
• Daybeds and mattresses by the pool or on the grass can be reserved online in advance — worth doing for sunset in high season.
• Arrive after lunch to claim a lawn spot, then stay through the sunset DJ set.
• Weekends run later (until 02:00), so Friday and Saturday are the liveliest nights.
