About

Suka Espresso opened in December 2016 when its founders transformed an old warung on the road to Suluban beach into a modern, vibrant café. The goal was straightforward: great espresso and fresh, simple food made with the best local produce, exactly what surfers and travellers on the Bukit peninsula were looking for.

Its location near the famous Uluwatu surf breaks means the morning crowd often arrives salty and hungry, while afternoons bring a mix of travellers, remote workers and locals. The atmosphere is relaxed and sociable, with a strong surf-town character and staff who know many regulars by name.

The food

Suka runs two menus. The morning menu (08:00–15:00) covers breakfast and lunch, egg dishes, bowls, toasts and sandwiches, paired with carefully made espresso coffee. From 15:00 the evening menu takes over until 22:00 with heartier plates for dinner. Across both, the kitchen focuses on freshness, sourcing produce from local suppliers, and menus are updated regularly.

What to order

  • Espresso coffee, flat whites, long blacks and iced coffees
  • Breakfast plates after a morning surf
  • Healthy bowls and fresh juices
  • Evening menu dinner plates from 15:00

The space

The converted warung keeps a casual, open-sided feel, with bright interiors and simple seating. It’s the kind of place where you can stay for a quick coffee or an unhurried lunch, and it works well as a meeting point before heading to Suluban, Padang Padang or the Uluwatu clifftop bars.

Tips for your visit

  • Arrive early, the post-surf breakfast rush can be busy.
  • The evening menu starts at 15:00, so time a late lunch accordingly.
  • Check the café’s Instagram for the latest menu updates.
  • Combine with a visit to Suluban beach’s sea cave and the Uluwatu clifftops.
  • Scooter is the easiest way to get around the Bukit; parking is roadside.

Who it suits

Suka Espresso is made for surfers and active travellers based on the Bukit, but anyone exploring Uluwatu will appreciate a reliable coffee stop close to the beaches. It suits solo travellers, couples and small groups, and the evening menu makes it a relaxed alternative to the busier clifftop bars when you just want a good meal and an early night.

The Bukit is spread out and hilly, so having a dependable café near Suluban is handy. Combine a visit with a walk down to the famous sea cave at Suluban beach, the surf-watching terraces above the break, or a sunset at Uluwatu Temple and its Kecak fire dance a few minutes away. Mornings after a dawn surf session are when the café feels most like the heart of the local surf community.

Unpretentious and full of good energy, Suka Espresso is a classic Uluwatu stop for coffee and a feed between surf sessions.
