Black Sand Brewery

Black Sand Brewery brought serious craft beer to Canggu when it opened in 2019, after the concept took shape in 2018. It brews on site on Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong and keeps its beers fresh, unfiltered and unpasteurised, with no additives.

It’s also more than a taproom. The brewery houses Black Sand Studio, a recording and performance space, a Sound School and a 24/7 pirate radio station, so music is baked into the place as much as beer is.

The vibe

Relaxed, creative and friendly. The warehouse-style room and communal tables make it easy to meet people, and families drop in during the day. By evening the back garden hosts bands and DJs, and the crowd shifts to locals, expats and travellers looking for good beer rather than a big club.

On tap & in the kitchen

• Beers include a Belgian Blonde, Rice Lager, Cherry Sour, IPA, Kolsch, Pilsner, Summer Pale Ale, Big Hazy and Small Hazy, plus an apple cider.
• Pints typically run around IDR 70k–95k.
• The kitchen, curated by Angelo Tellini, serves pasta (from IDR 60k), buckets of wings (IDR 100k) and rotating specials.
