About
Taksu Spa & Wellness Center feels like a secret, even though it is only a couple of minutes’ walk from Ubud Palace. Tucked at the end of Jalan Goutama Selatan, the complex opens into a small valley of tropical trees, stone paths and open pavilions where the traffic noise of central Ubud simply disappears. The name comes from the Balinese word for divine inspiration – the spark an artist or healer draws on – and the centre positions itself as a place to recharge that energy.
Unlike a stand-alone spa, Taksu is a full wellness village. Alongside treatment rooms there is a beauty salon, a healing centre offering practices like Theta Healing and craniosacral therapy, yoga and sound-healing classes, the Tastes of Taksu restaurant, the Topeng dining space and the Taksu Galeria. You can easily spend half a day here without leaving the grounds.
Treatments
The spa menu covers massage therapy, body scrubs, classic body wraps, reflexology, hand and foot massage with a lemon splash scrub, holistic detox programmes, bath and sauna, and even treatments for kids and teenagers. The salon handles organic facials, a restorative dermal facial, hair treatments, waxing and eyelashes. Therapists blend Balinese technique with Western approaches, and you choose from the spa’s own aromatherapy oil blends, grouped into Sacred Woods, Precious Floral and Magical Moods.
Signature rituals
- Myofascial Release – slow, sustained pressure to free tight connective tissue, ideal after long flights.
- Ayurvedic Massage – warm-oil work inspired by Indian traditions.
- Pulse Point Balancing – a calming treatment focused on key energy points.
- Sound Healing Journey – a group class using bowls and gongs for deep relaxation.
- Holistic Detox – a multi-step programme of scrub, wrap and massage.
The space
Treatment rooms are spread across the jungle garden, with bale pavilions for intimate sessions, Wana Prastha as a rooftop yoga deck and the Kirana Pavilion for small events of up to 25 people. Tastes of Taksu serves healthy, mostly plant-forward meals in an open-air setting, and a weekend high tea is available. The overall feel is low-key and grounded rather than glossy.
Booking tips
Book by WhatsApp or through the online booking page, particularly for couples’ sessions and healing appointments with specific practitioners. Opening times differ between the spa, restaurant (08:00–22:00) and gallery (09:00–21:00), so confirm your slot when you reserve. Pair a morning treatment with lunch at Tastes of Taksu, or book a sound healing class in the late afternoon. The lane is too narrow for cars to linger, so arrange drop-off at the top of Jalan Goutama.
Taksu is also a practical choice for travellers who have just arrived in Ubud after a long flight: a myofascial or Ayurvedic massage followed by a quiet meal in the garden is an easy way to reset. Families can book the kids’ and teen treatments alongside their own. Evening visitors can link a treatment with dinner at Topeng, where the jungle views and occasional performances make for a relaxed end to the day.
