Here are the ten we would send our friends to, and how to get the most out of them.
How Bali beach clubs work
Most clubs are free to walk into, but the good spots cost money. Daybeds and cabanas come with a minimum spend on food and drink, and some clubs charge a cover or sell a day pass at busy times. Booking ahead, especially for sunset, is the difference between a front-row daybed and a bar stool at the back.

The original, and still the one that sets the standard. An infinity pool faces the Seminyak sunset inside Andra Matin’s famous wall of reclaimed wooden shutters. Entry is free outside golden hour; from 16:00 to 18:30 there is a cover of IDR 200.000, redeemable on drinks. No dress code, and kids and pets are welcome.

- Book sunset daybeds a few days ahead in high season (July to August and December to January).
- Ask about the minimum spend before you sit down; it is per bed or table, not per person.
- Bring cash or a card for deposits, sunscreen and a hat. Towels are usually provided.
- Arrange your ride home in advance: pick-up points get busy after sunset.
- Never ride a scooter after drinking. Book a driver or use a ride-hailing app.
